Darjeeling Tour

5 Days

Over the border into West Bengal for tea gardens, the hill railway and Kanchenjunga at dawn.

Overview

Darjeeling sits at about 2,000 metres in the Indian hills east of Nepal, a few hours from the border at Kakarbhitta. It was built as a hill station, and it still looks it – steep streets, colonial architecture, and the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway climbing through the middle of town.

Mornings at Tiger Hill give the classic view of Kanchenjunga, the third-highest mountain in the world, and on the clearest days Everest is visible far to the west. The rest of the time goes on tea estates, the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute, the zoo and its snow leopards, and the monasteries above the town.

Usually paired with Ilam on the Nepali side. An Indian visa is required and we will tell you exactly what to arrange before you travel.
