Jungle lodges inside or beside the park, with private naturalists and small vehicles.
Overview
What separates a good Chitwan trip from an ordinary one is the guiding and the timing – being in the right part of the park at first light with someone who knows where the rhino were yesterday, rather than in a full jeep at nine.
The better lodges sit on the park boundary or the riverbank, keep their own naturalists, and run in small numbers. Rooms are quiet and comfortable and the food is a long way from the buffet at the budget end.
Everything else is the same jungle: the same rhino, the same chance of a tiger, and the same reason to stay three nights rather than two.
